Workshop: The Art of Sequential Storytelling

Led by Nathan Archer

Participants get to work with a comic industry professional on a pre-formatted paper with drawing materials to make a 6-page mini-comic. Each participant will get to learn more about story structure (introduction, rising action, climax, resolution), as well as comic craft and production!

“Older kids (age 9 and above) will enjoy learning the ins and outs of comic book creation as they write, draw and produce their very own mini-comic. They’ll discover the joys of cartooning while learning industry tips and tricks from a comics pro.”

For The Young At Art

Family-friendly screening

G-rated animated short films from around the world!

1pm on Thursday, June 13. Program run-time 60 minutes.

cosmospenguin in opera.JPG

One of the films is a sequel film from last year's debut, "The Cosmospenguin in Sushiland," directed by nine-year-old Luca Potskhishvili from Vienna, Austria. We hope Luca's film and the workshops will motivate children of all ages to follow their creative dreams.

The screening portion of the day consists of family-friendly short animated films. The films come from independent, student, and professional animators from as close as Georgia and as far as Japan!

BONUS: Admission to this screening is included in your ticket to the workshops!  However, if you would only like to attend these family-friendly selections without attending the workshops, it's just $5. Lunch is not included, but we sell popcorn!

VIP Passes include all festival events and screenings, so you're set!

We're delighted to screen a second film produced by another young artist, 13-year old Hannah Collins.  She has made two animations so far and has three more on her list. Loving math, art, and (of course) animating, she is wondering if she would like to work at Pixar when she grows up. She worked really hard on this animation and hopes you really enjoy it.
